We map the entire book internet — legendary bookstores, reading apps, book clubs, literary magazines, author archives and hidden forums — and rank them so you always know what to read next and where to find it.

Every site is visited, tested and re-checked by real editors. No paid placements, no AI spam — just books.
TopBookSites started as a tiny bookmark list in 2012. Today it is the most human directory of book culture on the web — built for readers who are tired of algorithms.
topbooksites.com is an independent editorial project. We collect, test and rank the best places to discover, discuss and buy books online: from century-old bookstores that went digital to Discord book clubs, slow-reading newsletters, library archives, poetry journals and apps that help you track every page.
Our mission is simple: make the book internet navigable again. Search is broken, social feeds are noisy. We do slow curation — every listing is opened, read, ordered from, or joined. If a site wastes your time, it doesn't make the list.

We buy with our own money, join with real accounts, and read for 20+ hours per site before scoring.
Readers nominate 500+ sites yearly. We add library archives, new apps and zines our scouts find in the wild.
Three editors test separately: order a book, join discussion, use search, contact support. Screenshots saved.
Weighted score + reader votes. Top sites are re-checked quarterly. If quality drops, they drop.
Reading lists, industry notes, app reviews and interviews. Updated weekly by our editors.
Our editors are binding the next batch of guides. Meanwhile explore collections and methodology — or subscribe to get new stories first.
